Life Care Center of Punta Gorda, Florida, recently earned a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

The CMS ratings system is designed to assist the public in choosing care for their loved ones. It calculates the ratings based on results of health inspections, staffing and quality measures (including pain management, pressure ulcers, weight loss and falls).

“I am so proud of the team here at Life Care Center of Punta Gorda,” said Julia Uthmeier, executive director. “We have been providing five-star care to our residents all along; however, we are excited that our five-star rating now reflects this. Our goal is to remain the premier provider of health care within our community, which has supported us for so many years.”

The rating officially posted on the CMS website on Nov. 30, 2016.

“Teamwork and always going above and beyond to meet the residents’ needs has made this facility a Reader’s Choice Award winner in the community every year since 2008,” said Kari Boice, vice president of parent company Life Care Centers of America’s Citrus Region, which oversees Life Care Center of Punta Gorda and six other centers. “Many associates at Punta Gorda have been with us for 10+ years and show the compassion and daily care that matches this rating.”
